It has been such a blessing getting to know all the wonderful kids and staff at Rafiki! Immediately, we felt welcomed and became a part of the family. From the moment the kids met us, we became Auntie Niomi and Auntie Amanda. From walking them to school in the morning to participating in devotion before bed it has been so fun getting to know each of the kids personalities; they are all so special and unique!
We have also had many adventures outside of the home since arriving in Uganda. Riding on the boda bodas was a new and exciting experience for both of us, and we have already had the opportunity to serve with two different ministries here. At Home of Hope we helped with their building project, digging up and moving soil, and told a Bible story to a few of the children at the home. Despite the many blisters and sore arms the next day, it was a great chance to serve the Lord and bless the people there. On Thursday we went to Elizabeth House (a special needs home) where Mary, one of the Rafiki kids, lives. It was an eye opening experience and a blessing to be able to love the kids, step outside of our comfort zones, and see the joy on the kids faces as we danced and sang with them. If only we could all find joy in the simplest and smallest things in life.
We will be at Rafiki for the next couple of months, sharing pictures and stories with you, and can't wait to see what else God has in store for our time here! Here are some of our favorite picture so far!
